Our client was charged with trafficking in and using narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The court of first instance acquitted him of trafficking but sentenced him to four years’ imprisonment for drug use. We appealed, arguing that the case lacked conclusive evidence of trafficking and that the recovered conversations did not establish any sale. We also raised inadequate reasoning and infringement of the right to defence, and requested leniency under Article 81 of the Penal Code.

The Court of Appeal reclassified the offence from assault resulting in death to involuntary manslaughter in a case involving the death of a seven-month-old girl. It reduced our client’s sentence from five years to two years’ imprisonment, with execution suspended against a KWD 200 bond, after lawyer Nawaf Al-Wuhaib argued that there was no criminal intent to harm the child and requested reclassification of the offence.

Female Police Officer Acquitted; Attackers Ordered to Pay KWD 5,000 in Compensation Lawyer Nawaf Al-Wuhaib announced a final judgment acquitting his client, a female police officer, of malicious allegations of neglect of duty. A citizen and his expatriate wife were convicted of verbally and physically assaulting her while she was performing her duties. After the criminal judgment became final, Al-Wuhaib filed a civil claim for the financial and emotional harm suffered by his client. The court issued a final judgment ordering the defendants to pay her KWD 5,000 in compensation.

Our client was accused of assaulting his then-wife and causing her injuries. The court of first instance imposed a fine of KWD 150. We appealed, arguing that the allegation was malicious and fabricated, highlighting the delay in filing the complaint, the lack of evidence establishing his involvement, and the absence of corroborating findings from the police investigation.
